A free trade is a collective term for a wide range of business activities that require no formal education or prior experience. All that is needed is a clean criminal record and being at least 18 years old. Free trades in Czechia cover many activities (see below) that can be carried out by a sole trader (OSVČ) without any additional requirements. It is sufficient to demonstrate at the Trade Licensing Office that the general conditions are met. No professional qualifications, other competencies, or prior experience need to be proven. Business can be started right away.
What Activities Fall Under a Free Trade License
A free trade covers the majority of activities carried out by self-employed, for example, retail (including e-shops), advertising, organizing cultural, sporting, and similar events, household services, and more. Some activities are listed in Annex 4 of the Trade Licensing Act, but unlisted activities are also included.
